Seeking the idol on behalf of the National Museum, Dr. Indiana Jones follows the
research of Princeton archaeologist Forrestal to Peru and ventures into the
Chachapoyan temple. Navigating the treacherous booby traps, Indy is able to
extract the idol and narrowly escapes with his life only to have the idol stolen
from his grasp by rival archaeologist Rene Belloq and a group of Chachapoyan
warriors. Indy later recovers the idol from an antiquities dealer in Marrakesh
and returns it to the museum.
